Plant Description and Operating Era
The CertainTeed Chowchilla CA plant allegedly manufactured Transite asbestos-cement pipe and Fluid-Tite asbestos-cement sewer pipe during the U.S. asbestos era, serving California Central Valley agricultural irrigation districts, municipal water systems, and Southwest U.S. water and sewer infrastructure markets. Chowchilla was one of CertainTeed’s dedicated West Coast asbestos-cement pipe manufacturing sites and produced large-diameter pressure and gravity pipe for water conveyance and drainage applications.

- Chrysotile-asbestos fiber receiving, weighing, blending, and milling for asbestos-cement pipe (Transite / Fluid-Tite) manufacture
- Asbestos-cement pipe forming, curing, machining, and finishing
