Plant Description and Operating Era

The National Gypsum Long Beach plant served as the company’s West Coast Gold Bond wallboard production and distribution hub through the U.S. asbestos era. The Long Beach facility allegedly produced Gold Bond gypsum wallboard, Gold Bond joint compound, and associated finishing products distributed to Southern California, Arizona, Nevada, and other Pacific and Southwest markets. Waterfront location allegedly supported inbound shipments of raw gypsum rock and outbound rail and truck distribution of finished bagged and boxed product.
